Green Tourism

Whilst we pride ourselves on high standards of hospitality and service we are also fully committed to minimising our impact on the environment. We are taking steps to help ensure the continued enjoyment of the local area and the world around us for present and future visitors.

A symbol of this commitment is our membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme, the Considerate Hoteliers Association and the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust.

The Green Tourism Business Scheme provides accreditation and encouragement for tourism businesses to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. By encouraging sustainable practices the scheme ensures the continued enjoyment of the environment around us for future generations.  Following a recent inspection we are pleased to have been granted a Silver Award as recognition of our efforts in this area.

The CHA encourages the adoption of economically, socially and environmentally sustainable policies and practices among Hoteliers in a way which enhances the viability of their businesses, the environment and the quality of the experience on offer to their guests, staff and visiting tourists.

The Trust is dedicated to the conservation of the natural and built environment of Torbay and the surrounding area.  It manages 1800 acres of land including Berry Head National Nature Reserve, Cockington Country Park and Craft Studies, Goodrington Seashore Centre and the South West Coast Path through Torbay.

Villa Marina is delighted to be a Benefactor of the Trust and would be happy to supply further details on the busy countryside events programme run by the Trust.

Some of the many ways in which we try to protect our surroundings are detailed in our Environmental Policy.

A number of the issues highlighted are ones that we would like to address over the next financial year; there are also some areas that will need a longer time frame. We are keen to continue making small positive steps in order to assist with reducing the impact we have on the global climate, yet we are aware that these steps have to be taken within sensible financial restraints and with an eye to business needs and governmental environment requirements.

We would greatly appreciate any comments or feedback you have on our Environmental Policy.

If you believe there are further ways in which we can help protect the world we live in then please let us know.
